The Technology Behind KibbyMedical™
Sensor fusion intelligence designed to support medically fragile infants
A Different Architecture

KibbyMedical™ is an intelligent care companion built to extend clinical awareness into the home environment. Rather than relying on isolated, single-point sensing, the system uses a modular, non-contact sensor fusion architecture designed to create continuous, resilient awareness around the infant.
Multiple Sensor Fusion™ nodes are positioned around the crib, providing overlapping fields of observation and continuous cross-validation. This multi-node approach creates a more complete and reliable understanding of the infant’s condition, even when a single sensor’s view is partially obstructed.
The system is capable of sensing through light fabrics and bedding materials, allowing continuous awareness without physical contact, wires, adhesives, or wearable components.
By combining multiple perspectives, KibbyMedical is designed to reduce blind spots, improve reliability, and identify subtle changes that single-point sensing approaches may miss.

Dual AI Architecture

KibbyMedical is built on a dual AI architecture that separates life-critical care intelligence from higher-level behavioral and longitudinal analysis.

Local AI-Core Vitals & Safety-Critical Functions

Life-critical signals are processed locally on the KibbyMedical™ Base in real time. These functions operate continuously and independently of external connectivity to ensure low latency, reliability, and uninterrupted operation.

Local AI functions include:
-
Respiration analysis
-
Cardiac micro-motion detection
-
Temperature assessment
-
Presence and safety verification

This local processing layer ensures that essential care intelligence remains available even during network interruptions, supporting both safety and privacy in the home.

Cloud-Assisted AI — Movement, Behavior & Long-Term Patterns

Cloud-assisted intelligence supports advanced analysis of movement patterns, sleep quality, behavioral trends, and longitudinal insights that emerge over extended timeframes or across populations.
These capabilities are designed to complement, not replace, local care intelligence. Certain motion and behavior features are shared between local and cloud systems to maintain continuity of awareness, while preserving a clear separation between real-time safety functions and higher-level analysis.
This architecture balances responsiveness, reliability, and advanced insight without compromising safety, privacy, or clinical responsibility.

Non-Contact Sensor Fusion
KibbyMedical uses non-contact sensing as one component of a broader care intelligence system. Physiological, behavioral, and environmental signals are captured without wires, adhesives, cameras, or skin-mounted devices.
Each Sensor Fusion™ node provides a defined field of observation and operates as part of a coordinated network. Overlapping coverage allows the system to observe the infant from multiple perspectives simultaneously, improving reliability and reducing dependence on any single sensor or angle.
All sensor inputs are processed by the KibbyMedical Base, which serves as the system’s central interface and computational core. This distributed architecture supports redundancy, consistency, and continuous awareness without physical contact.

Cross-Validation for Accuracy

By combining multiple sensor inputs, the system can interpret patterns that are not visible through single-point measurements. Cross-validation improves accuracy and allows the system to distinguish between normal variation and changes that may require attention. This approach is designed to reduce false alerts while increasing sensitivity to early signs of deterioration.

Local Intelligence & Context Awareness

KibbyMedical is designed to interpret situations, not simply observe signals.
All life-critical data is analyzed locally in real time, with the system learning individual baseline patterns for each infant. Changes are evaluated within clinical context, including:
-
Time of day
-
Recent care activities
-
Infant-specific behavior patterns
-
Developmental stage
This context-aware processing allows the system to prioritize meaningful changes, reduce unnecessary alerts, and surface clinically relevant information early.
Local intelligence ensures that essential care awareness and alerting functions remain available regardless of internet connectivity.

Caregiver-Aware Communication

KibbyMedical presents information differently depending on the role and expertise of the caregiver.
Parents receive clear, actionable guidance and reassurance designed to support confident care in the home. Clinicians are provided with structured data, trends, and care-quality indicators that support informed clinical decision-making and follow-up.
The system is designed to support caregivers and clinicians — not to replace clinical judgment or caregiver responsibility. KibbyMedical functions as an intelligent assistant that enhances awareness, continuity, and communication across the care team.
